Blues & Folk & Rock & Roll

Updated: Sep 8, 2021

Just another image dump of stuff I needed to get out into the daylight for a split second before it collects dust for the rest of eternity.

BELTON SUTHERLAND

IMO textbook example of the playing the blues. The music speaks for itself, but the weathered arch top being played on a porch with the background sound of insects chirping just makes it that much better.

WILSON "STAVIN' CHAIN" JONES

Simply put, I love the photograph so I made a poster out of it.

JAMES "JIMMY DRIFTWOOD" MORRIS

It's said that Jimmy wrote over 6000 folk songs, of which, over 300 were recorded. I don't even remember how I first stumbled upon his music, but I just really enjoy his melodies and storytelling. A lot of his music is steeped in American history and folklore. In the video above Jimmy talks about the origins of his unique homemade guitar.

RICHARD "LITTLE RICHARD" PENNIMAN

Little Richard brings the foot tappin' we all enjoy every now and then. I, personally, have not listened to much of his music, but you know I've heard "Tutti Frutti" lol. This image kinda just got conjured out of thin air. I had an image of a piano and somewhere along the line a photo of Little Richard came up and I thought the perspective fit perfectly with the perspective of the piano, so I made a composite image of the two. I tied it all together with a super sweet checkered floor to add to the flare. Done and done.

SAMUEL "LIGHTNIN" HOPKINS

I think of Lightnin' as the blues version of Leon Redbone and I can't decide who is cooler. Style, class, glasses, usually sits when he plays, super chill, and makes guitar pickin' look so darn ridiculously easy. The full package, what's not to love.

LEON REDBONE

Just like Lightnin' ....Style, class, glasses, usually sits when he plays, super chill, and makes guitar pickin' look so darn ridiculously easy. Leon Redbone is a magician -and a Snowman :)
