There is something absolutely calming about a somber moment. I really enjoy those days when I am able to get out on a trail or on my kayak and I feel like I could easily hear a pin drop. There have been times where I am out fishing on my kayak and all you can hear is mist hitting the water -the fog is so thick you can only see about a hundred feet or so.
I think the reason I create these images is because they all give me that same feeling those moments outdoors give me. Those moments feel like distant memories and they are a sort of comfort to me I suppose -it is hard to explain.
When I was a little kid I would get home from school in the winter and go sled or snowboard in my backyard as night fell rapidly. Every now and then heavy clouds would roll over and dump a light snow. The snow and clouds muffled out any distant sounds, it would get so quiet that I would stop what I was doing and notice it. I would listen to the silence. It's a beautiful thing to experience that. I love those moments.

"Be Still and know that I am God". I know exactly what you mean.
