Getting Back to It? For Now...?

Two things happened this week: One. I got COVID, Two. My wife got a new computer and I got her old one. My computer kicked the bucket about a month or two ago, so I haven't spent much time getting into a good habit of sharing artwork -again... Honestly though, it is really just an excuse. Sharing work takes time and I would rather be working on stuff that sharing it. That is what my problem is. My employer has measures in place regarding COVID and since I have it, I cannot be in the office right now. I am feeling a lot better and now I have time to share some old work.
I like playing music so obviously I have musical inspirations and I also enjoy just "stuff" that is related to music -I like music stores, I like music memorabilia... etc.
So here is a quick run down of "why" I made these posters.
Hoshaw Fine Violins -I have never actually met Randy Hoshaw, but he seems like a nice guy via my interactions with him on social media -he is also a killer painter. I found an awesome photograph by Alan Lomax of a fiddle player named Wayne Perry and the rest is history. I was in the mood to make a poster and I had all the subject matter.
2. Johnny Cash -I love Johnny Cash and I love the Carter Family and I randomly came across
an old poster of them both playing in Des Moines. I am sure it's not a coincidence as
Johnny married into the already then famous Carter Family. I found another image of
Mr. Cash playing the same Martin guitar he is holding in the old poster and that was all
the motivation I needed to make another poster.
3. Matt Woods and Dan Arbuckle -Matt Woods is a local blues player who I enjoy catching
from time to time. He plays some hard driving slide guitar and is just a joy to watch. I have
never met or seen Dan Arbuckle play harmonica but I am sure he is a treat as well. I
randomly sent Matt a message with the poster of just him on it and he said that he was
going to be doing a set at the Telluride festival with Dan.. so I added him in as well :) Love
the poster, love the blues!
4. Gregory Alan Isakov -Need I say it again.. Gregory is my all time favorite musician. His
record "Empty Northern Hemisphere" might just be the most beautiful compilation of
songs I will ever hear in my entire life. It just resonates with me, that's it.. I can't explain.
The only musician that I have regularly listened to as much as Gregory is John Hartford.
Gregory turned me onto John Hartford's music with a little cover of John's song
"In Tall Buildings". Quick tip: Get to know the people who inspire the people who inspire
you. To stay inspired :)

I can relate to your sentiments Nick! Liking all of these but esp. the ones done in orange/blue! As an aside, Johnny Cash's sister Joanne recorded this song written for him by Coldplay. She did this with King and Country's Joel and Luke Smallbone. I can hear Johnny singing this piece but I guess he died before he got it recorded.
